FAQ
Small business loan questions, answered straight
Sixteen of the questions we hear most, grouped so you can jump to what matters.
Enquiring
Does enquiring affect my credit score?
No. There's no credit check when you first enquire. We only talk about a credit check once you've seen your options and decided to go ahead.
Will my details be sent to a pile of lenders?
No. A specialist reads your enquiry and approaches the lender that suits your situation. Your details aren't broadcast to a list of lenders or sold on.
Who will I actually speak to?
A finance specialist who works on small-business milestones — fit-outs, equipment, stock, openings and purchases. Not a call centre script.
Why do you ask for accurate details on the form?
Because the right answer depends on them. The amount, purpose, state, trading time and any property decide which route fits. Accurate answers mean we can point you the right way on the first call.
Amounts, uses and speed
How much can I borrow?
Property-secured business loans run from $20,000 to $5,000,000. Unsecured, cash flow and line-of-credit options for trading businesses are typically $5,000 to $500,000, sized on turnover and bank statements.
What can the money be used for?
Business purposes: equipment, vehicles, fit-outs and refurbishments, stock, opening or buying a business, a second location, hiring, tax bills and working capital.
How quickly can funds arrive?
On property-secured loans, $20k to $250k is possible same day and up to $5m possible within 24–48 hours. Same-day funding is possible for smaller unsecured amounts. Paperwork readiness makes the biggest difference.
Can you pay my supplier or builder directly?
Often, yes. Equipment finance usually pays the supplier, and other facilities can pay a builder, seller or settlement agent where that suits.
Eligibility
Can a brand-new business get a loan?
Sometimes. Without trading history, the usual routes are borrowing against property you or a director own, or equipment finance with a deposit. Unsecured options generally need some trading history first.
I have bad credit. Is it worth enquiring?
Yes. Past credit issues are considered case by case, and property-secured loans in particular focus more on the security and the plan than on an old default.
I owe money to the ATO. Can I still borrow?
Often. ATO debt is considered case by case, and some owners borrow partly to clear it. Being up to date with lodgements and honest about the debt helps.
Do I need to own property?
No. Unsecured, cash flow, line-of-credit, invoice and equipment finance don't need property. Property simply opens up larger amounts and more flexibility.
Costs and security
Why don't you publish interest rates?
Because every small business loan is priced on its own circumstances — security, trading history, the asset, the amount and the term. You'll get real numbers for your situation, not a teaser.
Will I need to give a personal guarantee?
Most small business lending to companies involves a director's guarantee. We'll tell you upfront whether your route needs one and what it means.
Are there fees apart from interest?
Usually, yes — such as establishment, valuation or legal fees depending on the route. We explain them before you commit so you can compare the total cost, not just the headline.
Can I repay early?
It depends on the product and lender. Some allow early repayment freely, others charge a fee. Ask us and we'll spell it out for your option.
Still wondering?
Ask us directly. The 60-second enquiry reaches a real person, involves no credit check, and the more accurately you describe your plans, the more useful the first conversation will be.
